I was looking for our first home notebook. I knew I wanted builtin wifi, at least 1GB RAM, as hefty an integrated video adapter as possible and an SDMedia card reader. I looked online and then perused all the local stores. Office Depot had the best descriptions of each model. They identified the RAM and processor in detail, going to far as to recognize the amount of Level-II cache and bus speeds. It was this information that clued me into what a package this notebook is. I was stunned to see it on sale at a price lower than others with 1/2 the horsepower. Of course, it was sold out at the store but I was able to order it online. It came with Vista Home Premium which it runs handily (thanks to the 1GB of RAM). I even run Half Life on it with no problems. The builtin WiFi adapter is much better than the one in the older Toshiba I use at the office and on the road.
Pro : Feature rich with a low price
Con : Speaker and battery configuration panels are difficult to find

I shopped around for about 6 weeks before narrowing it down to a few models and makes. After consideration I bought this model and I am not looking back.. This is a mid level system at budget price.
I upgraded the ram to 2gb and it handles WIndows Vista Premium with no problems, only short coming is the battery life.
I would recommend this system to all.
Pro : Lots of features, great value
Con : Battery Life

Vista Home basic runs very slow on my brandnew A135. Everything seems to be so much slower even if you do not have much running on the machine. I wanted to change the OS to XP. Called Toshiba tech support and confirmed that it does not support XP. The technical support person told me to contact the manufacture of each component to ask for drivers. What! I am supposed to find out who made the wireless card, who made the processor, etc., and call each manufacture to get drivers for XP???
Great. I am never going to buy another Toshiba laptop in the future. Go buy a Dell, which always have all drivers for all operating systems you want.
Pro : cannot think of any
Con : no useful technical support

The only real problem I had with this was the battery life, it could have been better ,the support wasn't exactly great either, but I loved the multi features of it as a whole it's great.

I took this product home with me, and when I took it home and pluged it in it never even turned on. I took it back and they gave me a hard time about refunding it. But they did give me a refund. I took that one home and within 2 weeks it broke. I would not recommand this to anyone. DON'T BUY IT.
SAVE YOURSELF…
Pro : I don't think I could name one

The reason I purchased the Toshiba brand over the others stems back to my on-call days as a software developer. I had a toshiba t1000 in 1992 before windows was born. That laptop was quality made and the brand name loyalty has been carried with me since then. The A135-S4527 is a great desktop replacement and handles the windows vista os nicely even on just 1 GB of memory. The screen is top notch and the pointing device works well. I recommend getting the three year warranty extension for piece of mind. Toshiba support was excellent as usual. Indeed Toshiba continues to be a great value in the fiercely competitive notebook arena. This is a great machine for students, power users, and techies. It handles all types of applications smoothly. I highly recommend this laptop.
Pro : Great speed for the money
Con : Battery life very short (just over 1 hour)
